We are seeking an Automation Service Engineer I/II, Oncology to provide service support to the laboratory operations team and to be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment utilized. This position requires a candidate that is strong in root cause analysis, application support and repair of equipment commonly used in the Next Generation Sequencing workflow. The role requires a detail-oriented candidate with experience in a regulated environment, exceptional documentation (GDP) abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills. This is an onsite position in our facility in Menlo Park, CA. Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, or Tuesday - Saturday PM shift Responsibilities: * Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated processes and instrumentation. * Perform and coordinate maintenance work on laboratory equipment. * Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and problem solving on lab instruments. * Carry out Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications on new equipment as necessary. * Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements. * Effectively coordinate with vendors as required for equipment issues. * Maintain equipment parts inventory and well-organized equipment records. * Prepare documentation as needed for equipment operation and maintenance. * Propose and design plans for process improvements. * Represent the equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings. * Undertake special projects as assigned. Requirements: * BS degree in a scientific discipline. * 3+ years of experience in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment, especially liquid handlers * Strong customer focused service experience. * Ability to engage in constructive dialogue, challenge concerns and maintain transparency. * Proficiency in problem-solving with limited direction and making confident decisions. * Attention to detail and accuracy. * Solid understanding of statistical analyses relevant to automated lab processes. * Strong multi-tasking ability with a focus on prioritization. * Experience in troubleshooting complex scripts is an added advantage. * Experience working in a CLIA or similar regulated environment is preferred. * Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships. * Self-motivated with a high level of initiative. * Drive for continual improvement. Nice-to-Haves: * Familiarity with Molecular Biology techniques, including next generation sequencing. * Experience with data science / data engineering in an automated laboratory environment. * Experience developing training programs and performing knowledge transfer.
