Clinic Location: 434 SW 12th Ave #100, Miami, FL 33125   JOB SUMMARY  The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood on patients at the clinic and ensuring samples are sent to outside medical labs for processing. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Phlebotomist job description is intended to point out major responsibilities within the role, but it is not limited to these items. * Preparing patients before drawing blood * Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process * Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas. * Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes * Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly * Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s database * Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws. * Working with supervising physicians and always following their directions. * Submit electronic requests to labs. Uploading results included. * Correct issues should they arise with relation to lab portal.   EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE * 1year minimum experience working as a phlebotomist in a clinic or laboratory setting. * High school degree or GED equivalent * Certification or accreditation from a phlebotomy vocational school PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES * Excellent communication skills. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. * Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. * Attention to detail.
