The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve America’s housing crisis through all-out production. We believe that America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve this crisis. The American Dream is built, not inherited. We’re hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America. As Construction Project Manager, you will own the delivery of our new factory buildout in Austin, TX. Serving as AHC’s day-to-day owner representative, you will manage our contracted general contractor, coordinate our in-house architecture, engineering, and manufacturing teams, and drive the project from preconstruction and permitting through construction, commissioning, and handover. You will be responsible for delivering a safe, on-budget, on-schedule facility built to support full-rate production. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Own delivery of the factory buildout from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover. * Serve as AHC’s primary point of accountability with the general contractor, design team, consultants, vendors, and other project partners. * Coordinate construction and installation of base-building and process systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, dust collection, life safety, and process utilities. * Coordinate permitting, inspections, and approvals with the design team and authorities having jurisdiction, keeping regulatory requirements off the critical path. * Execute the facility layout in partnership with manufacturing engineering to support material flow, production efficiency, and future expansion. * Own the integrated project schedule, track the critical path, manage milestones, and hold the GC and vendors accountable to the plan. * Own project cost control, including budget tracking, forecasting, GC buyout review, pay applications, allowances, contingencies, and change orders. * Review scope, constructability, sequencing, and proposed changes to identify risks and savings without compromising safety, quality, or schedule. * Hold the GC accountable for site safety, code compliance, quality, documentation, and execution in accordance with the contract documents. * Establish and track project KPIs, including schedule adherence, budget variance, change-order exposure, quality, and closeout performance. * Lead commissioning, punch-list completion, documentation, training, and turnover of building and process systems to operations. * Provide leadership with a clear and accurate view of project status, risks, decisions, and forecasted cost and completion dates. QUALIFICATIONS * 7+ years of experience in construction management, project management, or owner-side capital project delivery, ideally in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-production environment. * Direct experience delivering a factory, industrial facility, or complex commercial buildout from preconstruction or design through commissioning and turnover. * Proven ability to manage a general contractor, consultants, and vendors, including contract administration, change-order management, pay-application review, and schedule control. * Strong working knowledge of building and process systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, life safety, and process utilities. * Strong financial acumen and demonstrated experience managing multimillion-dollar capital budgets, forecasts, contingencies, and cost-to-complete. * Familiarity with building codes, OSHA requirements, NFPA standards, permitting, inspections, and authorities having jurisdiction. * Strong constructability, sequencing, risk-management, and problem-solving judgment. * Proficiency with construction management and scheduling tools; experience with CAD or facility-planning tools is a plus. * Ability to lead across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced and evolving environment. * Highly organized, decisive, and capable of holding contractors and partners accountable while maintaining productive relationships. * Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline preferred, not required. * PE, PMP, CCM, or LEED certification is a plus. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * This is a full-time, in-person role based in Austin, Texas, with regular presence required at the factory site. * As AHC scales, this role has the opportunity to expand into facilities management, broader construction management, or other roles across the company. * AHC provides comprehensive benefits, PTO, and participation in company equity programs.
