About the Role We’re looking for a Jr. Data Center Operations & Systems Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll perform hands-on installation, cabling, hardware maintenance, system checks, and deployment support within a live data center environment. Working from established procedures and with guidance from experienced technicians, you’ll help maintain safe, secure, reliable, and well-documented operations. This role requires adherence to client best practices, security requirements, and safety protocols. What You'll Do * Install, rack, stack, cable, label, and validate servers, network devices, storage systems, rack power distribution units, and associated rack and MOR cabling by following approved work instructions. * Perform documented hardware repairs, component replacements, rack moves, equipment deployments, and IT equipment decommissioning with appropriate guidance and escalation. * Complete daily system checks and preventive maintenance. Review assigned alerts, tickets, and logs, then escalate issues that fall outside documented procedures. * Troubleshoot common hardware, imaging, connectivity, and configuration issues using approved diagnostic steps and knowledge documentation. * Support server imaging and deployment using approved MDT, WDS, PXE, or equivalent environments. Apply operating system updates, patches, and baseline configurations. * Assist with basic device and network configuration, including IP addresses, VLAN assignments, DHCP, DNS, domain access, and device-to-device connectivity validation. * Update tickets, maintenance histories, repair records, inventory systems, asset records, and project trackers accurately and on time. * Verify equipment identity, location, status, and chain-of-custody information during deployment, maintenance, movement, and decommissioning activities. * Follow access controls, change procedures, data-handling requirements, safety practices, and applicable operational standards. * Communicate task status, blockers, safety concerns, and recurring issues promptly to senior technicians and appropriate stakeholders. * Maintain an orderly work area and contribute to process, documentation, and operational-readiness improvements. What You'll Bring * One or more years of hands-on experience in data center operations, IT hardware support, desktop support, field services, networking, or a comparable technical environment. Relevant technical education or lab experience may substitute for professional experience. * Working knowledge of server components, network devices, storage hardware, structured cabling, rack layouts, and basic power concepts. * Foundational understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and common connectivity troubleshooting. * Ability to follow detailed technical procedures, use ticketing and inventory systems, and maintain accurate documentation. * Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, dependability, and a willingness to learn within a fast-paced operational environment. * Ability to work onsite, perform hands-on equipment tasks, and meet the physical and scheduling requirements of the assigned data center environment. Preferred Qualifications * Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent coursework in information technology, networking, electronics, or a related discipline. * CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Microsoft, Cisco, or an equivalent entry-level certification. * Experience with server imaging or deployment tools such as MDT, WDS, or PXE. * Experience working in a data center, network operations center, hardware lab, warehouse technology environment, or another controlled technical setting.
