In this role, you will act as a primary legal partner for our Product, Design, and Engineering (PDE) teams, helping them navigate novel, complex legal questions as our product releases accelerate. We are looking for a strategic thinker with an ownership mentality who can help us build a practical, forward-looking approach to risk management. You'll report to the Director, Product Legal, and play a pivotal role in shaping how we scale legal guidance across the organization. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FIGMA: * Partner directly with Figma's Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and go-to-market strategy * Review product user experiences, disclosures, and external marketing and communications materials to mitigate legal risk while helping our teams achieve their goals * Partner with cross-functional Legal teams (Commercial, IP, Regulatory) to ensure cohesive strategy and support * Advise on legal issues relating to data protection, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and evolving AI-specific laws and regulations * Develop and build out the processes, resources, and scaffolding needed to help our team scale our legal guidance as our product releases accelerate * Identify and communicate emerging legal risks early in the product development cycle to enable faster, more confident decision-making WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE: * In-depth experience counseling on legal issues relating to technology, IP, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and AI * Proven ownership mentality, including hands-on engagement with product details, process-building from scratch, and independent prioritization * A business-first, solution-oriented approach, including comfort making independent decisions and taking smart risks with imperfect information * Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered products or platforms * You have 8+ years of legal experience & J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) and is U.S.-qualified WHILE NOT REQUIRED, IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU ALSO HAVE: * Experience working in-house at a SaaS company * Familiarity with using and advising on ML/AI products * A technical background is a huge plus At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go.
